Shown below are a variety of the weaving techniques that can be used on woven towels.

The plush velour feel of a woven towel is created by "shearing'. Shearing is the cutting of the top of the loops after a towel is finished being woven on the loom. Depending upon the design and weaving techniques used, shearing may or may not be recommended.

Achieved by alternating color loops, creating a blend of two colors. Tweed gives the illusion of an additional color and is often used to fill large areas in a design.

To add depth, accent and texture the process of sculpting is applied. Sculpting is achieved by pulling all colors of yarn  through to the back of the towel, leaving no loop on the face.

A highlighting technique. It weaves the design in two colors without pulling loops up or down. It leaves a flat surface ideal for accenting your design with multiple lines of copy.

Used in conjunction with sculpting. Color fill accents the sculpted background by changing the filling yarns. A very strong option on white or light colored towels.
